The 2016 CRF1000L revived the Africa Twin name with a compact 998 cc parallel twin using a 270-degree crank, a steel semi-double cradle frame and long-travel Showa suspension on 21/18-inch spoked wheels. Buyers could choose a six-speed manual or Honda's DCT automatic with off-road modes; the DCT/ABS version adds three-level torque control and switchable rear ABS.
